State Trooper Among Two Injured in Reported Fairfax County DUI Crash

A Virginia State Police Trooper was allegedly one of two people injured in a Fairfax County drunk driving accident on Saturday August 19, 2012. According to reports of the accident, Trooper K. S. Fleenor was stopped behind a tow truck that was getting ready to transport a broken-down vehicle on Interstate 495. Trooper Fleenor reportedly had his cruiser’s emergency lights on at the scene.

Despite these precautions, a driver allegedly rear-ended the police cruiser and pushed the police car into the disabled vehicle that was being prepared for towing. The driver who reportedly rear-ended Trooper Fleenor’s vehicle has been identified as 30-year-old Christina M. Hirt of Alexandria, Virginia. Ms. Hirt is said to have declined medical treatment at the scene of the accident. She was charged with driving under the influence.

Trooper Fleenor and the tow truck driver were both reportedly injured in the crash. They were both taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital and were allegedly treated and released. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, there were 8,411 alcohol-related crashes in Virginia last year. Two hundred and forty-five people lost their lives and 5,465 people were injured in these crashes. The average blood alcohol content (BAC) was greater than 0.13%.
