Award-Winning Actress Sally Struthers Denies Drunk Driving Charges

Emmy winning actress Sally Struthers is perhaps best known for her role as Gloria in All in the Family and for her work on behalf of impoverished children. She also typically spends time acting at the Ogunquit Playhouse during the summer months. This summer she appeared in the musical 9-5 in Ogunquit, Maine. Her current role began on August 23, 2012, and ended on September 15, 2012.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, the Ogunquit police pulled Ms. Struthers over on Route 1 and charged her with criminal operating under the influence. The field sobriety tests or other reasons for the arrest have not been released to the media. There were no reported accidents or injuries related to these charges.

Sixty-five-year-old Struthers was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. Ms. Struthers reportedly cooperated with the police and posted bail of $160. She was back to work on Thursday, September 13, 2012.

Sally Struthers denies the charges against her and maintains that she was not driving under the influence of alcohol. She is currently scheduled to appear in Maine’s York District Court on December 13, 2012.

This is Ms. Struthers’ first arrest for drunk driving in Maine. A conviction for a first drunk-driving offense with no aggravating factors in Maine carries a potential $400 fine and 90-day license suspension. A conviction would not result in jail time.

According to Ms. Struthers’ representative, the actress denies the charges against her, is fine, and enjoys her time in Ogunquit every summer. Our Northern Virginia drunk-driving defense attorneys wish Ms. Struthers the best in pursuing justice after this drunk driving charge.
