Iron Chef Cat Cora Arrested on DUI Charges after Accident

Many celebrities have been busted for drunk driving lately, and chef Cat Cora has joined the list.

Cat Cora, the only lady Iron Chef and the first woman to be inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame, was recently arrested on DUI charges in Santa Barbara, CA.

On June 17, 2012, Cora rear-ended a car, and a male caller placed a phone call to 911 to report the accident and the driver. He told the 911 operator that Cora was driving very aggressively, weaving around the road, and that she was driving insanely. He also told the operator that he thought she was drunk because she was acting strangely and yelling after the impact.

When police arrived on the accident scene, they gave Cora a Breathalyzer test, and Cora failed. According to police, she blew a .19 blood-alcohol content (BAC), more than double the legal limit. Police also stated that she admitted to drinking three beers prior to driving.

Immediately after the results of the Breathalyzer, Santa Barbara police arrested Cat Cora and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol. She had nine days before she appeared before a judge to be arraigned for her charges.

Cat Cora has been a guest chef on many shows and has also hosted many television shows, with the most recent being “Around the World in 80 Plates.” On July 20, 2012, just one month after her DUI, it was announced that Cat Cora was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame as the first woman in the culinary community to have this honor.

Following Cat Cora’s arrest for drunk driving, she made this statement “I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable. I learned a very important lesson from this experience and take full accountability for my actions. This will never happen again.”
